Have you ever wondered whether selection tests could be more gender neutral? Do you find that they’re excessively based on mathematic and logical skills, and that they overlook soft and personal skills?
We did, and the need for GeNeus – which has the objective of improving women’s access to the job market and professional education opportunities through the development of gender neutral tools and tests for selection processes – originated from such questions.
During the first year of the project, which just came to an end, all partners carried out a thorough research on the subject of selection processes and gender issues in their countries. Moreover, they have developed – with the precious contribution of professionals from the field and under the academic aegis of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (one of the partners of the project) – some examples of gender neutral tests, whose administering is currently ongoing. The statistical analysis of the tests’ results will allow the establishment of the model’s effectiveness in appeasing gender differences, which usually emerge from classic selection tests, largely based on logic or mathematic skills and hard knowledge.
On October 2nd and 3rd, the project’s partners met in Palermo, Sicily, for the third transnational partners’ meeting, hosted by Centro per lo Sviluppo Creativo Danilo Dolci.
The meeting represented an opportunity for partners to take stock of the activities thus far implemented and to outline together the next steps to follow in order to develop the project’s intellectual outputs. Thanks to all partners’ contributions, the meeting was characterized by a dense exchange, further enriched by the comparison between the different realities and experiences from the partnership’s countries.
After this meeting, the work on GeNeus continues with renewed enthusiasm and dedication!

GeNeus – Gender Neutral Performance and Aptitude Testings has a duration of 24 months and it is funded by Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships for vocational education and training.
